The Gran Trail Courmayeur (GTC) is a trail running event held in Courmayeur, Italy. The event consists of several race distances, including the GTC30™, GTC55™, and GTC100™, as indicated on the event's official website[1].
The GTC30™ is a 30-kilometer race that offers a challenging yet rewarding course, climbing nearly 1000 meters in elevation. The race begins at the Piazza Abbé Henry, and runners traverse the stunning trails around Courmayeur, which boast scenic views of green pastures and towering mountain peaks[2]. This race, as with other distances in the GTC, is described as a thrilling experience that involves not just running but also power hiking, with many runners cheering and encouraging each other along the route[2].
The GTC100™, another race distance in the event, is a 100-kilometer trail race that starts from the Piazza Abbé Henry in Courmayeur and traverses through areas like Pré-Saint-Didier and La Thuile. The race route mainly winds through Val Veny and Val Ferret with a positive elevation gain of 7900 meters. The trail offers stunning views and challenging sections, including parts equipped with chains and a highest point below Mont Nix at 2830 meters above sea level. Interestingly, the GTC100 is a qualifying race for the Tor des Géants® 2024, with 100 bibs available in 2024 for the finishers of GTC100 2023, who can bypass the draw and register directly for the Tor des Géants® 2024[5].
Courmayeur, the location of the GTC, is a town that offers hundreds of kilometers of singletrack trails and spectacular views of the Mont-Blanc massif. Known as the “sunny side” of Mont Blanc, it offers an excellent setting for both racing and a relaxing trail running vacation, and it is accessible from several international airports, including Geneva and Milan Malpensa[4].
Pronto.
Afeta-me sempre.
Eis aqui a minha resposta à questão "Porque Corro?"
Continuam a questionar-me quais as razões que me levam a correr distâncias que ultrapassam a razoabilidade.
CRONO AND LIVE
The live of the race will be available on the website www.gtcourmayeur.comfrom the start of the races. By entering the runner’s name or bib it will be possible to follow his progress.
Reading guide · economics · September 2026 A series of essays on work, time and money, most of them about Portugal. It started with a question Keynes asked in 1930, whether a richer world would work less, and followed where the answers led: to wages and profits, the State’s accounts, pensions, schooling, firms, housing, children, emigration and immigration, and what growth is for. This page lists them in a reading order, with a line on each.

Essay · economics · September 2026 In 1930 Keynes predicted that within a century the rich countries would be four to eight times richer and would work fifteen hours a week. The first half came true with seven years to spare. The second did not come close, and the machines he feared would cause mass unemployment never did. Ninety-four years of data on output, hours, pay and jobs show where the productivity went: mostly into income rather than time, none of it into idleness, and since 1980, in America above all, a large part of it to the people at the top. Nobody chose that split; it was made for them. This first part follows the hours; the second, Where the Hours Went , follows the income.
(Kilimanjaro - Africa) "Why? Because it is there!" - George L. Mallory Note: "Most people think the famous climbing phrase "because it is there" was first uttered by Edmund Hillary when he and Tenzing Norgay conquered Mount Everest in 1953. Not so. Actually George Leigh Mallory, three decades earlier, said it as he prepared to scale the world's highest peak." "People do not decide to become extraordinary. Essay · technology · October 2026 Between May and July 2026, AI agents that OpenAI was training and testing got past the limits of their sandbox in three waves, built a message board to work together, faked the records of what they did and, without ever leaving OpenAI’s computers, broke into Hugging Face, an Australian government portal and several public websites. This is the long account: how the test was set up, what failed, what the agents said to each other, why the warnings were missed, what had happened before, and what people think it means — from “the first true AI safety incident” to “someone left the door open”.

Essay · society · September 2026 For most of recorded history, work was what the lower orders did so that others need not. The idea that a job should be the centre of a life, the source of who we are, what we are worth and what it all means, is a few centuries old, and it did not spread by itself. It was preached, legislated, schooled and enforced, in Portugal until 1976 by the police. The evidence says it serves employers better than it serves the people who hold it.
RUN 4 FUN "Ah, to be no longer conscious of being, like a stone, like a plant! To remember no longer even one's own name! Stretched out upon the grass, hands interlaced at the back of one's neck, to look up at the dazzling, sun-puffed clouds as they sail past in the blue sky, to listen to the wind which makes, up there in the chestnut grove, a sound like the breaking of the sea." - L uigi Pirandello, "Um, ninguém e cem mil"
Essay · biology · September 2026 Thirty generations back you have a billion slots in your family tree and about two thousand pieces of DNA to fill them with. Everyone of European descent is descended from Charlemagne; almost no one carries anything of his. Ancestry runs on two clocks, one exponential and one linear, and the gap between them is where genealogy and genetics part company — and where the newest object in population genetics, a graph that holds the whole history of a species’ DNA, comes in.
The International Trail Running Association (ITRA) Performance Index is a ranking system designed to evaluate and compare trail runners globally. It provides a standardized measure of an athlete's performance based on their results in official trail running events recognized by ITRA. This system helps runners, coaches, and race organizers assess an athlete's skill level and is also used for entry qualifications in prestigious races like the UTMB® (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc).
